About us

The Union of Ugandans in Malaysia (UUM) is a non-profit, non-political community organization established to unite, represent, and empower Ugandans residing, studying, and working in Malaysia. The Union serves as a platform for fostering friendship, cultural pride, and mutual support among Ugandans, while strengthening collaboration with Malaysian institutions and other international partners.

Founded with the purpose of promoting solidarity and cultural identity, UUM provides a bridge connecting Ugandans in Malaysia with their homeland and with one another. The Union organizes social, cultural, and educational events aimed at preserving Ugandan traditions, promoting positive values, and celebrating diversity within the Ugandan community abroad.

Beyond community building, UUM is committed to supporting the welfare and advancement of its members. Through networking, mentorship, and capacity-building initiatives, the Union seeks to enhance access to academic, professional, and entrepreneurial opportunities in Malaysia. It also advocates for the rights and interests of Ugandans and works closely with relevant authorities and institutions to address challenges affecting the Ugandan diaspora in Malaysia.

The Union further strives to promote a positive image of Uganda, encourage cultural exchange, and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of both Uganda and Malaysia.

our vision
