Ugandan Students’ Community Officially Inaugurated at Albukhary International University
The Ugandan Students’ Community (UGSC) at Albukhary International University (AIU), Malaysia, successfully held its Networking & Inauguration Ceremony on 5th May 2026 at the AIU Auditorium.
The event marked a major milestone for Ugandan students at the university, bringing together students, university leadership, international student associations, alumni, and distinguished guests in a celebration of unity, cultural diversity, and development-oriented collaboration.
The ceremony featured speeches from university representatives and invited guests, a documentary presentation, cultural showcases, a fashion performance, Ugandan cultural and creative dance performances, and the official announcement of the UGSC committee.
Speaking during the event, UGSC leadership highlighted the remarkable growth of the Ugandan student community at AIU, from only seven students previously to over twenty-seven students today, following the university leadership’s engagement and recruitment efforts in Uganda.
The event also emphasized AIU’s commitment to internationalization and social business development, particularly through the growing collaboration between AIU and Kampala International University (KIU), Uganda.
Additionally, the ceremony highlighted Afrisorce, a student- and alumni-led initiative focused on digital skills awareness, social business innovation, and youth empowerment through its Learn, Build, and Fund pillars.
UGSC expressed appreciation to the Vice Chancellor, university management, partner student associations and all guests who contributed to the success of the occasion.
The inauguration represents not only the establishment of a student community, but also the beginning of stronger cultural exchange, leadership development, and impactful collaboration between Uganda and Malaysia.
